Location 8             Ramot Polin / Polish Hills, Jerusalem, Israel, 2008

14 Photographs > Edition of 6

The photo series Location 8 expands my stay at one of the filming location of the video work Sabbath 2008 and functions as a story board, thus turning the religious neighborhood "Ramot Polin/ Polish Hills into set, a “location”, documenting its various spaces and borders. This neighborhood is located at the northern outskirts of Jerusalem and inhabits a community of religious jews. Built in the 1970's to the designs of Zvi Hecker, Ramot Polin was one of the few attempts by the national Ministry of Housing, to break out of the standard architectural mold, and create a neighborhood built for a religious community. Hecker created a semi shtatel "beehive" clattered with almost no straight walls or windows. In these photos attention is turned towards different kinds of relations which exists in this  specific social construct- and creates a story board, a tale of a place and its inhabitants.
